New Apeman mma Grappling shin guards

These bad boys (mma grappling shin guards) should be in stock within the next 3 weeks. They will have a triple layer foam system with gel core sandwiched in the middle, so you should be able to really take some shin on shin contact without flinching. We also did something a bit different with the neoprene sleeve. We added a high quality zipper that runs the length of the sleeve so you can fully open these shin guards up to take them off after a long sweaty training session. Another thing about the zipper is that the placement should not get in the way of your grappling.  and last these shin guards will also be made with a thick 1.3mm thick cowhide leather shell.  Hopefully we will be ahead of the pack of innovators with this design LOL but we will have to see.

This bag glove will have 2.25 of  padding over the knuckles including a rubber foam core, a pre curved design so you can  effortlessly maintain a tight fist, an angular cuff to give you better wrist support and stability, and a mesh palm for greater ventilation. We will also be using a introducing the use of a 1.3mm thick cowhide leather which will be 30% thicker then what we normally have been using and almost 50-60% thicker then what you’d find on generic leather boxing gloves.

Here are a few pictures below of the bag gloves

Sneek peek at our new Kong mma sparring gloves

We have a few factories competing  hard on producing prototypes for our next batch of Kong MMA  sparring gloves. the factory that produces the best prototype will get the go ahead, for our 3rd generation mma  sparring gloves.

Our goal is to produce the most protective mma sparring glove on the market, and i feel confident that we will easily meet that expectation. As most of the mma sparring gloves on the market only offer 1.5″ of padding over the knuckles, with a select few hitting the 2″ range.  While many of these same companies try to market the point that their mma sparring gloves offer the same shock dispersing capabilities as a 16-ounce boxing gloves, what they fail to state is what type of 16oz boxing gloves or what that actually really means to you the person getting punched in the face by one of their gloves.

At Gorilla we will not hide behind fancy marketing  jargon as we know it’s going to be hard to imposible to produce a mma sparring glove that will feel like your getting hit by a nice soft 16oz sparring glove. If you don’t believe me just think about this one point. Take the contact surface of a 16oz sparring glove like our apeman gloves they are around 120-140 cm2  and compare it to the contact surface of an average  mma sparring glove which may hover around  50-60 cm2. Looking at those numbers you can easily see that mma sparring gloves has less then half the contact surface area  thenour apeman sparring gloves .  All that means is that when you get hit with a glove that has a wider surface area the energy is spread out over a wder area and more foam comes into play to absorb the energy that would be otherwise transfered into your face.  The way we are going to try to get around this issues is simple we are going to make the gloves a bit softer and even thicker.

Here is the new design of our Greenhorn Sparring Gloves, which will continue to come in 12oz and 16oz sizes. we have also upgraded the PVC to a Flex Rexin PVC which gives the shell more room to stretch and flex under impact. So in the end they should last a bit longer, then the previous batch.

THese gloves are perfect for Boxing, Muay Thai, Savate, MMA and for anyone in the traditional martial arts would want to train full contact.

Just wanted to show you guys what we are planning on doing with our next batch of silverback pro style shin guards. the big thing we are planning to do is go seamless, one piece of leather running from the top of the shin all the way to the bottom of the foot.  By going seamless we are doubling maybe tripling the life span of the shin guards, especially in the ankle joint area.

got bored boxing/mma hybrid gloves

Filed Under (Area 51) by FatGorilla on 19-03-2011

Got a bit bored last night and cut up a glove out of curiosity to see i could turn a boxing style glove into an mma glove.

No i wonder if this could be a good option for making serious MMA training gloves that can offer alot more padding, and wrist support for skriking.

But they would be bulkier
